Tire wear issue
Tire wear issue
I have an pretty obvious issue with tire wear and I'm open to solutions. I had yokohama AVS-ES 100s put on at about 300 miles, had them rotated later than I should have, so then the fronts, which where slightly more used than the rear, where now on the back. (now i know on a fwd car you need the grippier tires on the rear, but it wasnt an issue, the difference wasnt that much). However, in the rotation, i noticed the LF tire, which is now the LR, was ever so slightly more worn than the RF.
Fast forward to about 7,000 miles, and the front tires have about 50% tread left, the RR has about 35-40% left, but the RR has about 5% left; it is almost bald, and i can feel it driving. What is the deal?
The flat tire gauge also went off monday morning. After checking 4 tires, i couldnt find and air leak, which leads me to the following theories. (because i have thought the thing was malfunctioning before, but then it was a slow leaking tire.)
The night before, i had hit a rough pot hole, and i figured i had either bent a rim or broken a seal, but i checked the wheels and they were fine. I also figured that the RR was heating up quicker than all the rest of the tires which was setting off the monitor. I didnt have a pressure gauge with me, and I wont see that car again for two weeks. What do you all think?

I'd guess that the RR tire is worn down to a point where the size of the tire is different enough for the tire monitoring system to think there's a flat. It's rotating faster than the other tires do to it's smaller circumference.
I havent had an alignment yet, car drives perfect. I was just curious as to why the RR was so bald. I speculated it was a bit more used when it was upfront due to the lack of LSD, but when they were put on back, the difference became a whole lot more exagerated.
You can have an alignment problem, that will wear tires but still drive o.k.
Sounds to me like you need tires and alignment so the new tires won't do the same thing.
Tell the alignment shop about the pot hole and ask them to check the inside lip of the wheels when under the car.
