Tire Rack Rocks

Yes, rocks I ordered my modest 16" package on Monday morning (10ish) and they showed up yesterday afternoon! That's something like 28 hours to my door! Of course I live in SE Michigan and their warehouse is in Indiana, but that's still great delivery. They did beat the local tire place by about $200 too. You just can't beat Tire Rack.

I got the 16" steel wheel and the ContiSport. They are MUCH lighter than the S-lites/runflats that I took off and they feel great on the road. The best part is that the wheels are SILVER painted. I was expecting black, and wow, the silver looks great. Squint and they almost look like Ronals. I couldn't specify what finish I wanted on the order (only one steel wheel option - $50 ea.), but I am over the moon at the looks and real performance improvement so far. I'll need to mist some WD40 on the hubs to repel water, but for now bring on the white stuff!

Just in time for that first snow we had today too, right?

I am thinking I will end up through tirerack too, although I have to see how the all season runflats hold up since I am kind of tight on funds atm.

Yeah, the all season runflats might just do the trick. On my car (purchased one week ago tomorrow!), the runflats look almost new, but I see no signs of them being the all-season variant. As soon as I pulled them off, I realized the soul-crushing weight and sidewall stiffness of the s-lites/runflats were responsible for some of the harshness that I was feeling. Like 92%.

I commute over the cracked and potholed concrete of Royal Oak, Clawson and Troy, and am really liking the 16s and 'soft' winter tires. I had to nail the brakes today, so I think that the fronts are broken in

Let us know how they work. I think that we might get some more snow sometime
