Sorry for the ancient bump, but...

Having the same prob, need to head to town to get the slip pliers. Was hoping NAM would have a better solution, and - bam - vinegar.

To help prevent this from happening again in the future, after removing the rings and before putting the wheel back on, sand the diameter of the wheel hub to knock off the rust and corrosion. Apply a very small amount of synthetic brake caliper grease to the hube diameter and the inside and outside of the hubcentric ring. The brake caliper grease is formulated to not 'melt' at high temps and flow away. It will keep the rust and corrosion from forming nearly as fast and help you to get the wheels and rings off intact the next time. Placing a light coating on the rotor mounting surface where the wheel adjoins will also prevent the wheels from corroding so easily. This is a big help in alleviating the 'stuck wheel' problem when trying to remove frozen-on MINI OEM wheels as well.

This procedure is best done on any car that has aluminum or magnesium rims.

Oh, damn you to hell centerbore rings! I just spent a few hours on mine. Once you realize where they start and where the rotor ends it is easier. I doused mine with PB rostoff and tapped a thin screwdriver against the rotor. The small flange on mine were part of the ring, not the rotor.
