Is there a difference between the ride of a 16" wheel with runflats and a 17" wheel with non-runflats performance tire? I'm considering on buying a set of 17's but don't want a harsher ride. Thanks!

naturally the 17" have a harsher ride... But the fun just blows you away!

I've heard from many people that go from 16s w/ runflats to 17s with regular tires that the 16s on runflats made for a rougher ride than the 17s w/o runflats.

when I test drove the MC and the MCS, I thought that the MCS (with 17" Run flats) rode better than the MC (with 16"'s). it might have been the suspension too.

I went from 17" S-lites with the Dunlop run-flats to the 16" MINI R84 V-spokes with 205/50 R16 Yokohama AVS ES100 tires (from the tire rack).

I can happily report the following:

- the weight dropped from 50 lbs per corner to 37 lbs per corner (52 lbs of unsprung, rotating weight saved)
- accelleration is improved
- no more first gear bog
- less influenced by groved pavement (it doesn't hunt as much)
- improved ride comfort
- better lateral adhesion, and thus higher cornering speeds

I'm carrying my cellphone, my roadside assistance card, a small compressor, and a can of fix-a-flat. I still have the 17" S-lites with the run-flats mounted for doing road trips.

ROTA makes some pretty damn light (and cheap!) 17" wheels. I had some on my WRX. Tough as nails, light, and cheap. Seems impossible doesn't it
