Spacers: downsides or what to know beforehand?
Spacers: downsides or what to know beforehand?
I have a 2019 JCW HT and want to go with wider tires, but will need spacers to clear the brakes. I have 10mm hub centric spacers in the garage, ready when I get new rubber. Are there any downsides to running spacers or things to know going in? I don't track my car; the hardest driving it gets is an occasional trip to the Tail of the Dragon. Otherwise it's a spirited DD.
Some light research says wheel bearings may wear out faster and I should get an alignment after.
Any other risks or words of advice?

Ignore the comments about spacers wearing out bearings faster. Those are from people that don’t know what they’re talking about. Those people will also say to just get new wheels with a different offset, which is that same as running spacers
As long as you have the right lug bolts to go with them, and you can get the right torque and clamping force, you’ll be fine. Spacers will not change your alignment, but will change how the car handles and responds to steering inputs. However, 10mm is pretty minor, so you likely won’t notice.
