Best offset rims for performance

I have a 2011 mini Cooper s and am thinking of getting some rpf1's. I was thinking of going with 16x8 et38 4x100 instead of the recommended 16x7 et 43 to increase track. I have stock suspension so far on it. Any recommendations?

A wider car means it has to move farther to get around corners, you can always space out a higher offset, you can't reverse a lower offset, spacers can tune handling as well.

I have 17”, 7” wide, ET 38 wheels and they do really well with 215/45-17 tires. I have not tried 8” wide wheels. But in the rear I have had some rubbing issues with 225/45-17 tires. Do some searches about what people have done already. Some people have not had the issues I have had. It will depend on what size tires you plan to put on those wheels. I’m not familiar with what is available for those wheels but I know the tire selection is more limited for 16” wheels vs 15s or 17s.
