Track pads, something with less torque than DTC-60
I'm running dtc 60 now on my R53 JCW, but I would like to go to a little less torque and longer pad life. Anyone have suggestions? Looking for a little more pressure range before I hit abs, or a little less initial bite
I've been running DTC60's front and rear for many years and love them. I rarely hit ABS and get great tactile feel, easy, smooth release while trail-braking, etc.; excellent pad and rotor life.
Just running stock MCS calipers (w/ducts), cheap CENTRIC rotors, 215/45x17 (NITTO NT-01 for dry and a set of Bridgestone RE71R's for rains) on 7x17, ATE Typ 200, SS lines. Have been doing track duty for over 40 years so I've learned how to "get on 'em and get off 'em" as quickly as possible. Fortunately, have never lost my brakes in the MINI. I tried HT-10's, then switched to DTC-60 when they came out w/them.
with re71 I did not abs too bad, with the rs-3 & rs-4 they do not have the same grip, so there is very little peddle pressure difference from hard braking and abs
I emailed hawk, unless they know something that graph does not show I'm switching to glock 10's
Keep in mind that, if you change to a different pad compound, you really should change rotors at the same time because your old rotors have been impregnated with the old pad material. However, if there's enough rotor thickness left, you could take a light pass on them or, while not as effective, burnish with rough emery paper. BTW, CARBOTECH makes excellent track pads with a variety of compounds.
I'll chime in about Carbotech XP-10's. I haven't personally had the DTC-60's on my car yet, but, I hear they're very comparable. The XP-10's apparently have a little less initial bite and more modulation in comparison. I was debating between the two awhile back and decided to give the Carbotechs a go. I've done a few track weekends (I don't AX) on them now and I'm really liking them. I have MCS calipers w/ ducts, SS lines and run plain high carbon Centric rotors too. If you go with the G-loc's, please post your thoughts. I didn't realize that about them designing Carbotech's. I'd love to hear how they do.
I will I have the same setup, R53 JCW calipers with ducts ss lines, centric "premium" rotors. I only ax this car a couple times a year to test changes, it's primary mission is trackdays.
There was some kinda split with engineers leaving to form g-lock
