Anyone running 235/40 tires on R56?

So I have a set of 7.5 inch wide wheels for my 2008 Mini S and am currently searching for tires, I can probably get a good deal on a set of 235/40/17 tires, which will fit great on the wheel, but what I want to know is can I run them on my mini? I know some people have done it before, but I have not had a clear answer as to if it will rub or not. My wheel offset is 42, 7.5 inch wide. Right now my car is stock height, but I do plan on putting on H&R lowering springs soon after I get the wheels and tires mounted. Anyone run a similar setup? If not I'm just gonna play it safe and go with a 215/45/17. Thanks.

For the last 4 years I've been running 235/40/17's on my '13 JCW using rota rb wheels 17x7.5 with 45 offset and am lowered 2" with NO problems. I use sumitomo rubber that is dirt cheap and have provided excellent service. I use a 12.5 spacer in the front to clear the brakes but none in the rear.

I like the specs of these tires,I have a set of 17x8.25 wheels currently on my 2009 mcs that are wrapped with 215x45x17's I am Lowered on springs and tires are stretched my offsets are 22 and poking out since thinking of wider arches just wondering if those tires will clear the struts.

Now the tires I am looking at are known to run a little wide, is 235 the absolute limit for a tire on a mini or coukd a tire that's realistically a 240 wide still fit?

With fender modification 245/40 has fit.

Got my wheels mounted today, and for the most part they fit very well. Offset is just where I want it to be. Only issue is the wheels rub on the fender liner at full lock, just barely grazes it.

Wheels

my wheels are 17x8.25 et 22 so it pokes about an inch on my car it did rob few times but the tires did the job and trimed
the arch from inside no more robbing but I have a YATT wide body on order that will help cover the tire after I install spacers
