What 17" tires for JCW Hardtop?
Hey y'all! Just got my 2012 JCW. I'm the 2nd owner, the first put 1700 miles on the car. Loads of fun, and I am thrilled to have it! Anyway, the conti runflats are not my cup of tea. What 17's do you recommend? I commuting, but do weekend jaunts to the mountains and tend to push them in the curves. I'd also like to try an autocross next season.
Also, what do I do with the uber expensive runflats? Seems like a shame to just throw them out. Are they worth anything with 1700 miles on them?
Thanks!

The run flats are worth something, especially for those who don't mind using them(like myself). If you're thinking of selling them, I'd take them off your hands
Otherwise, this would be my non-rf choice.

Those Michelins are nice, but they don't offer them in a MINI size. 225-45-17 is going to throw your speedo off.
My choice would be the Pirelli P Zero Nero. I've gotten really good mileage out of them, and they grip really well, and they're on closeout for $368 for a set of 4. Compared to my Hankook V12's, they are definitely a cut above. I've also had the Bridgestone RE760's. I thought the Hankooks were just slightly better.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 215/45/17 - from all reports I've read on here they're a superb tire, and are certainly going to be my next brand and size when my Hankoook V12's need replacing
I run the Conti D/W Extremes and they are excellent in the wet. It is my wet track day set up and I have found nothing better. They are good in the dry but I switch to Nitto NT01 for that purpose normally. The also make a A/S version too but mine are not snow rated.

I'm going to pull the Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSSTs off my '13 JCW HT. I'm thinking of Michelin Pilot Super Sports (based on some other threads). IzzyG - I note you recommendation for the PS2s - any reason/differences.
Also, my OEMs are 205/45R17s, I presume that's the standard? I see some mention of 215s and 225s

Doh! I didn't even realize Michelin had a PS2 model. When I abbreviated PS2 I meant Pilot Super Sport(2S's). My recommendation was for the Pilot Super Sport. Oh and I'll take those RF's off your hands if you're selling for a reasonable price

Both fit stock or JCW suspension, no rubbing.
Any of the Extreme Summer class tires are worth a look but they do wear fast. They don't offer as much comfort or treadlife as the Michelin Pilot Super Sport (Max Summer tire) but they are very grippy.
The Pilot Super Sport is a great street tire with very good handling and decent treadwear. The 215/45-17 is less costly than the 205/45-17.
Count me as a happy owner of the PSS 215's. They ended up at $850 installed on the car, and I got $525 for 3 of the Dunlop run flats (one got a nail in it the day I was getting the Michelins installed.
Anyway, the ride feels great, and they have performed extremely well in the heavy wet weather, looking forward to pushing them.
