15" Wheels & Tires Thread

Hello,

I am still fairly new to the forums. I have a 2006 MCS that i just bought about 2 months ago. The car came with aftermarket 17" rims that needed replaced. A few weeks agao i traded down to 15" Honda steelies with some new Blizzack tires (i needed 5MM spaces in the front). It was a great deal....even trade no cash. I couldnt pass up the deal considering my 17" wheels needed new tires.

So, with the fact that i drive about 100+ miles a day for work i am loving the 15" MPG difference from the 17" rims....also the difference in price's for tires! ($30-$50 difference per tire!)

At this point it is hard to tell what the weather is going to be like in the Pittsburgh area...so i am going to leave my Blizzacks on for a few more weeks....i also live on a dirt and gravel road so the extra grip is nice.

I would like to stay with the 15" wheel size and am hoping this summer i can purchase a new set of wheels and tires.

I have done some searches and have found a few Mini's running after market 15"'s....but not much.

All that being said I am a "research" kind of guy before i buy anything...so i might as well start.

I would like to see pictures, wheel specs and tire specs as well as any other modifications needed for fitment without rubbing issues.

I am open to 15x7 and 15x8. My goal is to buy wheels and tires and just put them on with no issues or modifications. I am on stock suspension and no plans to lower.

Thank you in advance!
Anthony

I think you are wise, and don't reckon you'll have any problems filling that bill.

The folks that run very low profile tires on 17" or 18" rims pay for their preference due to the short sidewall which stiffens the ride, and the increased wheel weight.

Mind you I'm an autocrosser, so my priorities are centered around performance which is a bit of a niche.

Anyway, as you might note from my signature I've run 15x8 Kosei K1 rims for donkey's years, with a variety of tires. At present I am running a 205/50-15 Dunlop Direzza. The rims are +38 of offset, and I've never had a clearance problem - unless I was being greedy and running 225s - and even in that case the issue was self correcting.

This approach is not too expensive, and I find it quite liveable. It also happens to provide damned good performance.

Kind regards,

Charlie

Thanks for your reply Charlie.

It looks like you are on coil overs as well. Just for other people who might be interested....with your 15x8 you have no issues....how much of a drop do you have (with no isses)?

With the +38 offset is there any poke with a 8" wheel? or is it flush?

Sorry i am not familair yet with offsets.
