I was also thinking in staggering the offsets. It would be more desirable to buy the same offsets and just stagger them with spacers to still allow for rotation i'm assuming? I had staggered wheels on my eclipse and i kicked myself because i wasn't able to rotate.

Most folks who stance the cars don't mind this, but some do, just be aware. You'll get increased lateral grip and a great "look", but there's a slight penalty in steering feel.

Note: Please do not take this as criticism, simply information. Many mods come with tradeoffs.

Creeve, that's a great shot, and a fine stance. Well done, sir.
Very true - I notice slight increase in torque steer with +40 offset with my Enkei's and a bit more of the tramlining.

I slept on this and I am not going to bother with spacers. I will either keep it stock or replace the Challenge wheels with Breyton GTS-R which have +40 offset to give the look I want for my summer setup.

Check it out....

Well, it's now a done deal.
205/50R16 and 16 x 7 +35.
The front is "right-on" flush.
The rear is a "smidge" (<5mm?) shy. I don't think I'm going to mess with spacers at this point.
I'm happy. Looks awesome. Amazing handling/ride. No adverse reactions in steering. (Boff.)
A "thank you" to all for the advice and information.
Mods? Next...

Thank you for the compliments. None of the side shots turned out that well from yesterday. (Photographer, I'm not...) I might try a few this weekend.

If you are looking to see the "drop", this is from last fall with OEM R119s (+48) before the new wheels... I haven't changed the suspension since then. The top of the tires are 1 finger below the fender opening.

Take care.
Pete

Nice. Much less off-roadish than many R56's.

It's been a year but I need to open this thread up to ask questions and for opinions. Before I made this decision, I read many many threads on NAM about this. I've come to the conclusion that I'm a simple man. So, if you will...

Facts: I want to install spacers solely for looks (to fill the wheel wells). I DO understand that handling may be affected a little and accept that. I have spent enough money these past two years and am not interested in new wheels at this time so I'm not interested in that debate. I have TSW springs with only a mild drop (inch or less) and will be installing Koni Sports with the spacers.

Questions: Is the above quote true? Sort of? Close? Whatever the answer, can I, with factory R119 16” 6-Star Twin Spoke Wheels (48mm offset) running 195/55 R16's, put 5mm front and 15mm rear spacers without rubbing? 10mm fronts? Oh, I forgot 10mm spacers are problematic. In that case, 12mm"s? 15mm's?

Thank you for simple easy to understand yes/no style answers. Remember, I'm older and math is not my friend.

Would you happen to have a side profile picture of your car with the drop?

5mm will hardly make a difference, that's normally used if you have some tire rub on some suspension part. Very hard to even notice that.

Only one I have now.... Dark... been drinking.

As you can see... Minimal drop.

Don't mind the old MINI... getting in the way all of the time.

You should be fine. I had R98s and 15mm spacers in fronts(for BBK clearance) and also lowered on coilovers(not too extreme, but no wheel gap). No rubbing on the fenders.

Yea you should be good.
The drop is minimal.

There are ppl running 17x8 ET38 with 235/40.....which is practically the same diameter as 195/55/16.

Wow stupid app, disregard that third picture haha.

But that pic gives a good way of measuring what spacer you can fit.

The car below is on swift springs which drops it 1inch all around

So the consensus is that with my wheels/tires, 15mm all around will work?

Thanks guys.

I'd probably stick closer to a 38 offset.

So in your case, a 12mm spacer would put you at ET36 which is as close as you can get.
As long as you don't go with a taller tire, or drop any lower you should be good.

I say take a measure first to be sure.

Keep in mind that spacers do cause a bit more wear and tear on wheel bearings. How much wear?.....I wish I knew.

Thank you. I was thinking 12mm front and 15mm rear but I still have to get off of my *** and measure. I am sticking with the drop and tires. After the LSD and Koni's next week, I'm officially out of (major) mod money for awhile!

Haha well post pics when you get around to putting them on. I'd like to see how it turns out with the new offsets.

This thread has some good info from some good people. Sometimes stance threads can go south pretty quickly...

Pete - first pic I've seen of your MINI on stock wheels. I like them.

Melangell - if you wouldn't mind, I'd like your feedback on the Koni Yellows when they go on. Still haven't made up my mind on coils yet...

I shall. It will be sometime after the 15th. Way is too short to reach the suspension when the car is up getting a LSD. I'll be bringing them and the spacers home and getting them installed here.

Would anyone know if running 15mm or 12mm spacers on all four corners would rub on a stock 17x7 et48, wrapped in a 215/45 series tire?
With 15mm the offset would be 33.
With 12mm the offset would be 36.

I'm leaning towards the 12mm...not sure if either would cause rubbing.

The car is stock height, any input would be very helpful.
