Snow Tire question

I think I may know the answer to this already but wanted to ask the experts before I decided one way or another.

I just recently took delivery of my Clubman S - with 16" all-season runflats installed. I have snow tires from my previous vehicle in my garage and they are practically brand new - only 4 months of use on them. Unfortunately, I have the feeling they may be the wrong size and un-usable on the Clubman.

They are Bridgestone Blizzaks WS70 - 215/60R16

I'll probably get another set of wheels for whatever snow tires I end up with - but was curious if I could use these tires ... or if I should craigslist these and start shopping for a whole new set.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that unless you have a big brake kit (or JCW brakes), then 16" wheels will fit. When I had an R56, I used 16" s-winder winter tires with no problem.

Mostly curious if those particular tires will work on my car, I have 16 wheels and tires already. Thanks

The 215/60/16 tires are 1.8" larger in diameter than the OE 195/55/16; thus would raise the ride height by about .9". I don't know if that would create a clearance problem over bumps with the fender above the tire. They're not too wide to fit on the 6.5" rim, but the narrower OE size would work better in snow. I would buy snows in the narrower size.

Tikigod,

Hey check this site out.. http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp You can compare tires side by side.

Like Jim Michaels said, it looks like those Blizzaks will be nearly two inches taller than the OEM MINI tire/wheel combo.

Common OEM sizes.

Also helpful, especially for visualizing the differences:

So am I right in taking away from this thread that 215/60R16 is too large for a MINI and I should look elsewhere?

I'd agree.

Thanks! I ended up finding another set at 190/60R16.. and I now know that 215 would have been way too big, since I think these tires even rub the.. material? in the wheel well a little bit on sharp turns.
