Stripped security lug bolt. Help!

I was rotating my tires yesterday when one of my security lugs stripped out, ie the bolt stayed in the wheel but the piece that meshes with the "key" detached from the bolt. Called the dealer, they say they can remove for about an hour's labor, $118. Tried a few other shops, nobody wants to touch it.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, I was very surprised when it came apart. I'm not a big guy and I was using the wrench that comes with the car, so it's not like I was torquing it that hard. The security lugs I have are MINI brand.

I lost the coded key for my Type R. Solution was to find an appropriate sized socket, pound it over the offending lug and use a breaker bar to remove it. Worked like a charm.

Thanks Kansasbob. Pounded on a 12-point 3/4" socket, and it came right off. Didn't take much muscle either, so I have to think these security bolts are too damn delicate. I stopped by a VW dealer to see if they could remove it, they use a similar lug bolt design. But the splines in their lock-lugs are much bigger, so their extraction tool wouldn't work. I think I'll ditch the security lugs, I don't trust them.
