5mm spacers

Ok so I have searched through a few forums and havent found much. I want to know if 5mm spacers would do anything for my stock 16in wheels on my Cooper s. Does it improve anything or should I have a different suspension set up. Or should I go to a bigger mm spacer. Sorry if this had been answered. Couldn't find it

improve anything?

the aesthetics of course...

i'll answer this question with an analogy

it's much like a push up bra that doesn't do too much. improves the looks a little?

go largee my friend!

The larger the spacer, the more tourque steer you will feel. May not notice it with a 5, but will with a 15.

Can improve cornering capability some as well because of the wider stance.

Haha like the analogy... Why would torque steer be more pronounced? Would putting spacers with stock suspension and stock 16s look any better? And I can see how cornering may be better...

I have them on and i have bigger wheels but aren't wide so I feel like I may have to look for 10mm but not quite sure if this will cause any issues. I thought I saw 8mm but not sure if they were H&R's. I do think they're more for aesthetics. Seen some in here with 15mm and they look really nice. Just dunno if there are any other adjustment once you go thicker. I'm a noob!

I have 5mm all around and I love the look. As far as handling goes, it may have done a bit as far as grip is concerned, but really the look was done to achieve a better stance without more expensive wheels! A cheap fix for now, until I can afford my new wheels.

I am installing some 15mm spacers on the front to see if I can induce a little oversteer. I figure if you can induce a bit more oversteer in a car that inherently understeers, then the car should become more neutral. Car is in the shop now, but when I get it back, I will snap some photos and post them up!
