How I Painted My Wheels On The Cheap (DIY)
Just the Advanced Auto up the street. $5.39 a can, needed two. Can't beat it, lol. If you want specifics shoot me a pm, I may still have the remnants in the garage.
Chances are if you live in a harshe climate you will have to repaint them in a year. This is a picture after I painted them in 09.

I Scuffed, primed, painted then cleared mine and 2 years later they look horrible. Alot has to do with the fact that we are in the salt belt. But for the price of paint and materials its cheaper then paying someone to pull the tires off and going to get them powder coated. Granted the powder coating would last a hell of alot longer.

I have an 06 R53 S and the wheels are curbed horribly.
I am thinking about repainting them but they seem to have a think plastic paint on them now.
Are the factory wheel powder coated? painted? What is the OEM paint? It looks and feels like a thick plastic paint.

I've previously posted the paint codes for the silver, white and black paints used on the wheels and they can be gotten at anyplace that sells automotive paints. For small quantities I used Automotivetouchup.com which can supply brush bottles, pens, rattle cans or bulk altho for bulk I typically just go to my local supplier.
I would note that the 'instructions' in this old thread are generally in contradiction to the application instructions for most base/clear paint systems .... most do not call for sanding between coats or between the color and the clear. Doing so may weaken the bonding of the new coats. Also a primer coat is not needed except where bare metal is exposed. If the existing finish is 'strong' - not peeling - then one simply needs to sand away the gloss to afford the first new coat a 'physical bond'
Follow the directions for the paints you use .... more detailed instructions that those printed on a can are usually found on a web site

If I am going to do anything, I will fix the wheels and repaint them.
Just never seen wheels with this much coating on them. Almost looks like they were powdercoated 5 times or something.
