I just bought a 2007 mini cooper s . I was wondering what would be a good lowering kit to put on the car and also what size 18 " wheels and tires to use once the kit is on ?

Properly sized wheels are all the same diameter (more or less) to keep your gear ratio's and spedo correct. So as long as you stick with a "recommended" size, the usual kits will work fine. If you fall in love with a rim with the wrong offset, then you migh need spacers to make them work...same for tires... Too tall sidwall, or too wide might need spacers to get you clearance.
Good luck.. Sorry about the lack of specfic info, but somebody should chime in, or do a search!!

how much lower do you want to go? There are parts that will lower the car .75" others that can drop it 4" and everything in between.

To lower your MINI you will need adjustable coilovers. Then you can pick any ride height from a little lower than stock to about a 2" drop but that would invite rubbing- the slammed look.

18" wheels are not a problem if you can use 7 to 8" wide rims and a tire diameter of about 24.4" or less down to about 23.9" is fine. Tire width about 205 to 235mm usually works OK.

If you need more negative camber then you will need camber plates in front either fixed or adjustable and rear lower adjustable control arms.

You have to install the coilovers with the ride height you want, any camber plates and control arms before you do alignment. Any additional upgrades to endlinks or swaybars does not affect ride height or alignment so can be done anytime.

Realize that larger 18" wheels often mean lower profile tires which are harsher riding depending on which tire you choose with runflats being very stiff. They are also more prone to damage when hitting a pothole or bump in the road so if you have good roads it should be fine. If not go slow.

I had my 2007 MCS cabriolet lowered w/ Eibach springs and no camber adjust. The ride is stiffer than the stock sport springs, as expected
