Best All Weather Tire Recommendation

I have searched quite a few times. I can't seem to find a good thread on All Weather Tires.

I want something grippy but I will drive in a bit of snow at some point.

Recommendations or a link to a thread on the subject ? thanks!

If you live in the midwest and switch tires for winter do the high performance tires do well in the rain? It rains here often in the summer lately. thankyou!!!

Some summer tires are very good in the wet. There are many all season tires with test reports on tirerack.com.

Search on your desired size and then change the parameters to eliminate snow and summer tires from the results. Click on the individual tires to see customer reviews, tirerack tests, tread warranties, etc.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus would be my choice.

That's what I run (3 seasons), too.

Must be a New England thing....

Moved the thread...

I recommend Nokain WRG2. I use them during the winter months. Snow usually doesn't last moire than a few days here, so a dedicated winter tire ends up being used more on dry pavement.

They are a competent snow tire that isn't all mushy in the dry. I'd encourage you to read about them on Nokian's website. They are a very advanced tire, but can be rather expensive.

Does anyone like or dislike the Yokohama Avid H4s? It seems to be the best tested IMO.

Something you like better please let me know..

Nabesin,

My tire installer recommends those Nokians as well. He says it is a snow tire that can be driven in the summer time. And it also gives better gas consumption. I am considering them for my dd rims.

+1 for the Nokian. I used them when I was in Canada and I can vouch for its performance from personal experience.

Well, I'm thinking perhaps keep the RF Goodyears for Winter and just buying some summer tires now...

LOL, the only people that are going to write a "review" are the ones that generally complain. Been running on the MINI for the summer but I drove a car that had them on for 3 years and they were great.

Enjoy whatever you choose.

+1 (or is it 2 or 3) on the Nokian WRG2. Love 'em.

It seems that all the buzz has been around the Continental Extreme Contact DWS and the Yokahama AVID ENVigor. I am leaning towards the Yokahama. It is a Silca based tire and if I go +1 to a 215 from a 205 I can get a W rated tire.

Here are some of the available tires on Tirerack.com for a 2007 S.

Continental Extreme Contact DWS, hands down the best all weather tire of the group. My all season of choice is the Kumho Ecsta ASX. Great light snow and cold weather capability with the best grip I have gotten out of a set of UHPAS tires that cost under $200 per tire.

With that being said, I am running a set of Continental tires right now and I love them

I agree with you about the ratings on the Continental. I was all set to get the Continentals until I read the DWS thread compared to the Yokahama AVID thread. Both tires are priced about the same (Yokahama has a $40 rebate on Tirerack until August 21st), but the soft sidewalls concern me on the Continental. I am replacing run flats and will have no spare. I like to hit the twisties now and then but also need a good commuter tire. Neither tire has had a winter of testing behind them. We will see if the ratings stay as high as the Michelins over time.

Has anyone had any snow experience with these tires??? I would love to hear what you have to say.

Tire Rack tested the DWS tires in the snow and thought highly of them for winter use. The test results are on their website. I installed 215/45R17 DWS's on my '03 MCS just this week and am very pleased so far, although they are far from the best handling tire available. There's a lengthy thread on these tires, and different people who have bought them have expressed very different opinions...worth a read.
