Forgive my stupid question (again!) please, but I'm looking for a bit of clarification. The local MINI dealer looked up my car with the VIN and tells me I have 16" wheels. However, when I measured from one edge of the rim to the other, it's exactly 17". Since the dealer failed to turn up a few other options with the VIN search, I'm a little hazy. When measuring wheels, is it taken from the outside, or is it the smaller measurement on the inside where the tire actually fits?

 

the diameter is measured from the face of the bead mounting area on the rim.
