Michelin Primacy MXV4... thoughts???
I am a bit old fashioned. I think brands like Michelin speak for themselves. I have never had any problems with Michelin tires. I like them for their longevity and ride quality. (I got over 100,000kms on a set of four I installed on a 2003 VW Jetta TDI). Sadly I forget what model they were... X One's?
Yah-- I am probably not much help... apologies. I think Michelin has a good reputation though. Have you considered any other brands?

Had those on my Accord i just dumped for my new Mini. Actually, had 3 Accords in a row. Two had Michelin's on them one had Bridgestone. the bridgestones I replaced with Goodyears. Out of all of them the Michelin's were the best. I had the Primacy MXV4 on the last one and they were great tires. Nice feel on the road. the goodyears were awful. felt like I was driving on flat tires. I think they are worth the coin.
I have been looking into tires for you. I think I have found some comparable tires at a fraction of the price.

These tires are Sumitomo HTR+ Ultra High Performance All Season tires. They are ranked very highly by Tire Rack, but also have a low price. I think you would be hard pressed to find a tire that ranks higher than this in performance/longevity/ridequality etc. Take a look at the ratings. Impressive. These are the tires I will end up getting once my MCS arrives. (well, I will naturally drive the crap out of the runflats first which we all know won't be that difficult!)

Really can't go wrong with Michelin's. They know it and charge for it. Youse gets whats youse paysfor
I just ordered a set of Nitto NeoGen's UHP all seasons. I found them at top of charts in consumer reports and the feedback I got from here was that they rock. Have to get back to you on personal experience
As you might expect the Michelin's ranked well in all categories. In the UHP Allseason they were a couple clicks lower than Nitto's
Good luck! Researching tires is a PITA. Everybody and I mean everybody has a opinion (including me!)

Are you looking for a comfortable tire, or a good handling tire? The MXV4 looks like it would give a good comfortable ride, if you are willing to give up a fair amount of handling.
I have two sets of wheels for my MCS. One set is 17x7 and has Michelin Pilot Exhalto PE2 tires. The other is 16x7 and has Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S (all season) tires. I got the Nero as a comfortable set with less noise than the PE2s. Now I regret the sacrifice in handling, and therefore, safety.
TireRack.com tests indicate the MXV4 give a quieter and more comfortable ride than the Nero, and the Nero handle better. Personally, I would be uneasy with the MXV4. Maybe that's just me.

There are so many freakin' choices!!!! Sure wish MINI would just put on a quality non-rf tire to start!
I never really cared about tires before, but now I want to get it right. So many choices, pro/cons, perspectives, opinions, thoughts, recommendations, prices, qualities, driving styles, errrrrrrrrrrrrrr

i'm new to the mini world and i've not had them on a mini but on a mercedes wagon and i hated them. if you're going for michelin i'd say pilot exalto a/s (plus) or pilot sport a/s (sport)
bridgestone has the re 960 a/s that i had on another mercedes coupe and LOVED them until snow was deep. very good wet and light snow along with great dry performance
the other thing, i think all of those 3 have warrenties and they will not last the length of the warranty...because of this you'll get some money back toward the next set after them. that's my experience at discount tire.

Well, I ended up with the Primacys. I love 'em. Wow, the ride is sooooo much improved. And, yes, I've noticed a tad more lean in hard corners, but for everyday driving, I'm very happy.
