proper bedding procedure varies based on the pad - instructions are usually included with the pads. Carbotech instructions are also on ctbrakes.com in the FAQ

It took me 15 passes in a 3000 pound car to get the pads to fade. 8 passes from 60 MPH to 30 MPH, one minute cool off (drove without touching the brakes) and then I went from 70-75 MPH down to 25 MPH until they faded. You don't have to go incredibly fast, you just have to generate a lot of heat to boil the resins and release the gases. It sounds like you may have gotten close, you may even have taken them far enough. They will be fine for the street, but keep this in mind. The next track day you go to, expect fade around the 4rth or 5th lap. If that happens, take it easy the rest of the lap, trying not to hit the brakes and take the car in to the paddock and let the pads cool. A good hour and your ready to go. If they fade and you continue to run hard, the pads will glaze and then you will lose a significant amount of braking power. It doesn't completely ruin the pads, they would have to be slightly ground to remove the glaze. I hope this helped, feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.
hey mike jr. here's one for ya.
i installed xp8's and powerslot rotors last night and thought i did proper bed in. then i read your input (above) today and thought, "maybe i didn't feel much fade....i'll try it again today." well things felt pretty good. i followed the above instructions...but wasn't feeling any fade....some serious stink and a little smoke later, i came to the conclusion that i did bed them in last night. other than noise, the breaks are working well. very solid feel. but now i wonder if i "over did it" today (glazed the xp8's?!). how would i know? should i do a little light sanding and start over? my track day is a week away and this has given me another thing to obsess about. any help is appreciated. at the very least, others may benefit from my "over bedding."

yep, can't say I've ever felt fade with the new pads.

On another note - Had an Auto-x last Sunday and the brakes worked superbly. Where the oem pads faded fairly quick and provided little stopping power the CT's had tons of stopping power one heavy braking slow down after another. I pretty much never locked the brakes on the OEM pads while running r-compound tires but I had to be careful not to lock them with the CTs.

It was my first race with the CTs - I think with a few more runs and me getting used to them I'll be able to go even deeper before getting on the brakes.

Hey Oxtox,

As long as you did not repeatedly fade the pads, you will be fine.
If you glazed them, there is an easy way to tell. When braking you will feel like isn't not slowing down you will have to brake harder and harder. The initial bite of the pads will also be significantly reduced. You should be fine, I understand being overly concerned about it, but I wouldn't worry.
