I was thinking about wheels for my future MCS the other night and I was bored, so I decided to photo shop a set of E46 M3 wheels onto the Cooper. Wow, do they look good. To bad the M3 has a 5 lug pattern and a different off set. I doubt there is a company out there who makes a replica M3 wheel that would fit a cooper.

Thanks to Jersygirl (I believe that is her name) for the use of her car in the picture.

I remember seeing a while back a pic of a mini with 5-lug wheels, maybe theres an adapter to make it fit?

that was the breyton and there was an adapter
I do not suggest adapting....

maybe swap the mounts from either a z3,z4, 3 series or whatever fits/works...

I didn't even know there was such thing as adapting! I guess you learn something new every day. I'll keep my eye out for some good wheels. If I do find some replica E46 M3 wheels that would fit a cooper, I'll let everyone know.

Could you imagine 19's on a MCS?

I do think that it looks good to have a 5 lug pattern but for the size wheels we have it may not be really necessary and would add weight. I wonder what other compromises would be made if one did switch using adapters- reduced strength, more complexity, added cost for parts and for 5 bolt wheels. Also would the 5 bolt rims weigh more?
This may be the cost for the good looks one can get.

I don’t know how I got the idea for the M3 wheels on the MCS (I think they look pretty nice on the car) I think that most any BMW wheel would look nice on the MCS. Perhaps I'm just going through BMW withdrawal. True, the Mini is a bimmer, but not a full blood.

I'm really going to miss the torquey V8 in my 7 :???: but I won't miss the repair bills, so I guess it will work out in the end.

The Z4 has wheels that look like the v-spokes, I wish those fit the mini.

If you look at some ricer magazines (I currently have somewhere on my floor HCI and Sport Compact Car), they have some adapter plates to convert 4-5 lugs. I don't remember the name of the company, but pm me and I'll find it for ya.

BTW, I like the Z4. Looks like the Batmobile (1989)

I hate those wheels on anything but the car they come on stock (E46 M3). Everyone out here that buys a 3-series goes and gets those rims and they're just played the f*** out and don't look THAT great.

Yeah all you have to do is switch out the hubs (I think that's it) with another compatible car. I remember SCC had an old 240sx and they changed out all the suspension and brakes for the stuff off a 300zx.

thought I'd jump in an old thread....is it feasible to put an 8-lug wheel on the MINI (I know it's a 4). there are several eBay listings that claim compatibility. Is it OK "out of the box" or would I need converters, etc?

some wheels come drilled for two different four lug sizes, the MINI and whatever else so they have eight holes - four ands four.
