Size Matters?

I need new tires soon and i decided to go with toyo t1-r but could not decide on wheel size.

I was reading this old article from "Euro tuner" about wheel size and after reading i am inclined to go with a 16" setup.

Does the explanation in this article fall inline with anyones experiences?

the next question is what size tire for a city DD and a few possible auto-x events? i was thinking either 205/45/16 or 225/45/16.

I'm leaning towards the latter because i might as well put down as much rubber as i can, right? would and et 43 work with this tire and a 3/4" drop (tsw springs)

Thanks,
Jonathan

Self Bump

So no one has any opinion in regards to 16" wheels being the most fun as stated in the article?

For Toyo T1R
Stock size
195/55-16 fits rims 5.5-7" wide, 24.3". 18 lbs! lightweight.

205/50-16 fits rims 5.5-7.5" wide, 24.1" tire diameter, most common size for street driving on a MINI with 16" wheels.

205/45-16 fits rims 6.5-7.5" wide, 23.2" tire diameter, sold out at edgeracing.com

225/45-16 fits rims 7-8.5" wide, 23.9" tire diameter

Not in Toyo T1R
215/45-16 fits rims 7-8" wide, 23.6" tire diameter

For 16x7 rim +43mm offset and 3/4" drop
225/45-16 would be most aggressive.
215/45-16 would be next but doesn't have T1R in that size

For 16x6.5" rim
205/50-16 would be a good size and would fit.

205/45-16 might be out of stock, shop around.

Too small vs stock tire diameter would increase wheel gap and cause speedo and odometer error for daily driving. You do get some gearing advantage to smaller wheels for track use but it does limit top gears.
