Potential Brake Problem
Potential Brake Problem
Hello
I have JCW brakes on my car and i have about 4 hours of track time on the brakes next to 20,000 road miles - let's just say I don't treat my brakes like they're made of tin foil on the street. Anyway, when i'm decelerating now at a pretty steady rate in the last few miles per hour I hear a dreadful crunching noise from the brakes. They squeak also but that doesn't bother me. I know the pads are a bit grippier with the JCW brakes making them a bit noisier. But before driving on the track I don't recall them being so noisy. (and i've checked the edges of the pads to make sure there weren't any chunks missing - the rotors look good)
Thoughts?

I would remove all the pads for a full inspection just looking at the edges does not give you a complete view of your pads. Maybe time for some new pads and a 2nd set of track pads if you want to keep hitting the track.
Carbotech pads on my site would be a good replacement for the OEM JCW and have the hole for the wear sensor too.

I did what you suggested and everything looks fine. I took the pads off and put them right back on. When I took the car out to check to make sure nothing was wrong there was zero noise
. Now i'm confused
