Wheel torque confusion

My manual says 88 ft/lbs of torque but in another thread ScottRiqui says

My MCS is a 9/06 build, which is the exact month they reportedly switched to the 14mm bolts. So I'm not sure which ones I have and don't trust the manual (can easily see the user's manual not catching up on a change this small).

Help?

Take off one of your wheel bolts and measure the diameter in mm.

Either it is 12mm or it is 14mm.
Here is a picture of a 14mm (left side) to 12mm (right side) conversion stud- see the difference?

Notice the thread pitch is different too- 14x1.25 vs 12x1.5
If you are not any good at measuring you can take your bolt to a hardware shop and ask them if it is 14mm or 12.

If you have 12mm bolts then use 88 ft-lbs torque.
If you have 14mm bolts then use 103 ft-lbs.

Don't use something in between. Find out what you have so that you can torque your wheel nuts appropriately.

It's still a good idea to double-check as Minihune suggests, but if your car has a September 2006 build date, then it's going to have the 14mm bolts. The switchover was in July of 2006.
