Helping GF find tires
Helping GF find tires
Hi all, I am trying to find new tires for my gf because she has a sidewall puncture in her 195/55/16 runflats. She does not want another set of RFs, and based on my research here people seem to like the 205/50/16 on the stock rim. Tire rack Test Results seem to like the Fuzion ZRi as far as budget tires in the size, but I am going to look around here a bit more before picking one for her (she wants cheap, I still want it to be fun when I borrow it). I have two questions:
1) Does Mini cover alignments during the free service period? If nobody knows, oh well I can call them tomorrow
2) My main question: how does Mini usually react to tire size changes, as far as warranties? Will they void the warranty or do they not care? (Reason I ask is I drive an Evo and Mitsubishi basically voids your warranty for driving off the lot
)
TIA

On the tire size change, it probably depends on the dealer. Some are very mod friendly and some not. MINI of Nashville tends to look if the mod contributed to the failure, if not they honor the warranty. I had a wheel sensor go out with 215/40 tires and they did not say a word about the tires.
Others have posted their dealer are similar to your Evo experience.
Suggest you look at General UHP Exclaims. Smooth-riding, quiet, excellent in the wet, long-wearing and plenty of grip for anything short of all-out competition. Bet of all, they're inexpensive at Tire Rack. A real bargain for the non-track street driver.
Twice a MINI owner, never a free alignment.
What dealership is local to you? I've changed wheels and tires on both of mine and the dealers couldn't care less. Which is how they should be. If you're changing the tires and not the wheels, I wouldn't even worry about it.

Thanks for the responses, I will check out those tires =)
I looked at the Generals already, great reviews, but they are back ordered for everybody and she needs tires ASAP

Have you tried TreadDepot.com? I got my General Exclaim UHP's from them and had a great experience. Good luck
