17x7.5 ET 40: Will it clear a Cross Coilover?

I've ordered wheels sized 17x7.5 ET 40 with 215/40 tires.
I want a set of Cross coilovers but am concerned about clearance issues after reading about someone having to run a 5mm spacer with 17x7 ET 48 webspokes with a set of KW V1s.
My questionnable calculations give my wheels about 2mm more clearance from the shock.

Is there any way to know if a wheel will clear a coilover? Do KW's protrude toward the wheel more than the Cross?

Thanks for your input.

I think you should be fine...I think you're referring t my R56. I also ordered a set of 17x7.5 wheels with a 40 offset. Not too sure if I want to run 215/40 or 215/45.

I ran OEM 17x7ET48 with 205/45/17 on my Cross and currently have 215/45/17 on 17x7.5ET45 (closer to the Cross and taller than yours)

your calcs were spot on!! You learned math for a good reason!
