16x8, 42 offset. Will this work on an R56?

Hey everyone...I just installed a set of KW V1's on my R56s and would like to go with a 16 inch wheel for the track. My question is will a 16x8 with a 42 offset fit without any issues? Also what would a good tire size be. Thanks!

My guess is that the offset will be a tiny bit too high. Someone was saying that a 17x7.5 et45 was rubbing on the inside....but i don't know much more about it.

17x7.5 et45 clears on an R53, and Dan@MachV runs that wheel size on his R56 with 235/40-17's, so I'd imagine that size is cool on the R56.

For the 8" wide wheel, you'll want an offset of 38mm or less. A 38mm offset on 8" wide is 5.5" backspace, same as stock 17x7" et50 and the above 17x7.5" et45.

Cheers,
Ryan

Ryephile, do you know exactly when an 8 would start rubbing.....is it 39mm and up?

Sorry I can't say exactly; it depends on the lip design of the wheel and more importantly the tire shape & size. If you want to design within the millimeter you'll have to measure out the wheel-well accurately and have CAD drawings of the wheel and tire you're going to use. I just am going off the 5.5" backspace as being the furthest inboard the wheel should be. You probably could squeeze a bit further inboard and get away with it with a snugly mounted tire [leaning towards stretched].

Regarding tire size, the first size I stumbled upon for a 16x8 using stock-ish diameter would be a 225/45-16, which is 24.1" diameter. If you wanted to go short diameter, Toyo's 245/35-16 would be the ticket at 22.8" diameter.
