17" BBS RS on R53?

Has anyone seen it or done it? I searched but didn't find any pics.

Thanks,

I've got some 15 BBS RM's....caster has some 16" RS's. I don't think anyone has them in 17's yet.

The issue with the 17's will be the offset. You will need to find a set of Porsche RS's (5x130) in 17's with high offsets to accomodate for the adapters. Either that or find a set that has enough metal on the hub to be redrilled. A lot of the 17" RS's out on the market right now aren't really adapter friendly for a 4x100....seems to be better for the MKIV and MKV VW's that all seem to be running 17" RS's recently.

With the adapters though...you're not left with much room to have deep lips. I'm not a big fan of the RS's in 17 if they just have the normal 1 inch lip or the .5 inch lip. If you could fit the 2 inch lips....you'd be golden.

P.S. Click my sig and check out the 3-piece wheel shirt....i think you might like it if you like the BBS RS

my car with the RM's

Thanks for the reply, cool shirt.
How thick is the "average" adapter? Where is a good place on the 'net to find them?

Thanks,
db

For a 4x100 -> 5x130 adapter, the average size is 25mm. If you're looking at 17x8 RS that means you would probably want the offset to be in the high 50's or 60's....that's a bit uncommon, but porsche wheels often have higher offsets. Do you have a set of RS's in mind yet?

Do a search for H&R adapters....they're the best quality. You don't want to go cheap on something like adapters. A slight mismatch and you will have an obvious wobble. I'm not sure which place offers the best deal on H&R adapters.

Yeah, those offsets are huge! I was just trying to figure what I'd be lookin' at. Really wanted a set of gold 17" RS for my MCS. Wonder if Schmidt makes anything that fits...

Schmidt definitely does....especially their multi-piece wheels since you can custom order them. They all come in 4x100.
