After a long search of effective brakes for MINI, i've stopped on 2 variants. But to make right decision wonna to ask a piece of advice from MINI-specialists.

(all other brake systems have no dust coats, which is not suitable for our conditions. Very attractive Wilwood kits don't have them, for example)

BREMBO:
+ widly-known company
+ exists special kit for MCS
+ no future problems with pads and rotors
+ 1 months for delivery
- weight (calipers are awful heavy! think, that it is not positive for suspension and for roadability at all)
- price (4200 USD without work)

+ weight (caliper is really light! probably, its aluminium)
+ 6 pistons
+ price (3300 USD with work)
- no special kit (the dealer of R2 told me, that they will remove my stock caliper and take all necessary measurement to make an order for new calipers. After this MCS will appear in the catalog. For my opinion, looks strange. )
- rotors and pads only by order
- 3-4 months for all operations

Not completely correct.

The Wilwood factory kit can be had with booted calipers in either the 11.75 or the 12.2" versions and with any rotor of choice- plain, GT or SRP (drilled and slotted). It is only a matter of what parts are used to produce the final build. They are all interchangeable.

The TCE/Wilwood 13" kit could be fit with the BSL4r booted caliper of the larger 14" kit if so chosen however the cost will be much closer to the 14" kit.

Next, the full 14" kit is available only in the BSL4r booted form unless special ordered with stainless steel.

And finally, the rear p-brake caliper kit is only available in booted form.

***And while I agree with the comments on buying locally as shipping is a major cost for us to ship to you, I would also avoid any kit with a six piston or more design without good research on proper biasing and piston area values. While there are perhaps some six pots on the market with very little piston area most will be far too much for the correct use on a MINI. (just my .02 on the matter)

As I know, Wilwood has lovely prices for original rotors and pads. Well, it's time to find a local distributor!

Of course, it is possible to order JCW brakes. But it seems to me, that for 2000 usd it is not a good deal...

Also, to my knowledge Brembo's GT break kit weighs less than stock.

 

Heh, really? If it's true - I cann't even imagine how many stok weigh.
May be we have different information - as I know, Brembo kit for MCS is quiet the same as stock brakes for EVO or STI. Brakes from STI are very-very heavy, without doubt.

 

Not sure, but the next time I have everything apart I'll try to remember to weigh them.

 

well, problem is solved! Wilwood kit is ordered and will be installed in march.
Two pleasent facts: stock wheels will fit with only 5 mm spacers and summary cost is only 1365 (slotted and drilled rotors). NICE!
