Post-August 2007 TPMS (Direct) Question

I have searched the threads on this - but could not find a definitive answer to my question:

I have an October 2007 Cooper S. I believe that if I put on aftermarket wheels without the new direct TPMS the TPMS light will illuminate on the screen in front of the steering wheel.

I want to confirm that a) other "alarm" lights (open door, passenger seatbelt, etc.) will continue to function; and b) there will be no annoying audible alarm that accompanies the light (except perhaps on start-up).

If someone can confirm this it would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Tim

That's correct. I have Nav and had to clear it from the screen before I could do anything else. Not sure how it works in Non-Nav cars.

I have a non-NAV car. Trust me, if anyone knows about the new TPMS, it's me. My car has been at the dealer for 2 1/2 weeks with a TPMS issue. I finally got a call today that they fixed it. Long story. Anyway, the light will definitely come on. It's the first 'idiot light' on the speedometer. You will also see a triangle with an exclamation mark on the tach. It only makes a sound when it first comes on. After that, nothing.

To avoid all this, all you have to do is have the sensors swapped over to the new wheels. That's what I'm going to do. Good luck.

Thanks for both comments!

I like to have dedicated winter/summer on two sets of wheels, and I have GREAT deal on 16" wheels set up for a 2006 MINI - just wanted to find out how bothersome the warning is.

Thanks!
