Vento9, RallyMINI- if you have something to say, why don't you put on
something and show us what you got? show US how YOU would do it.

Not having wheels on my car doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. I've had the car three weeks, give me alittle time.

You're entitled to your opinion, but you might loose friends with that kind
of response (your first comment). you want to be smart and be accepting of
others and let others help you for your benefit. at the end, you get the info
to need to do wat you want on your car, and we as a team get to watch you
enjoy your ride.

that's the kind of people we are here.

I already have....and would hate to fill this thread with constant repeats of my pictures. I can point you in the right direction if you dont recall my car (which has been posted numerous times...its the cr/w lowered on 15s and short tires).

And if you want, i can bring back my thread that used to be on TMMZ (its under construction right now apparently) so that you can see that i have some pretty random/unordinary mods. I was the second person on NAM to ever run an MCS bumper on an MC, the first on NAM to post custom painted black grill slats on a non-black car...and as rick can attest, my interior is covered in plaid(not exactly usual). I know that many of my mods that USED to be rather rare have now become pretty common....which is PART of the reason that im moving up to an MCS....i will be aiming at taking styling even further away from in my own direction.....you should see the plans . There will be a lot of custom bodywork etc to achieve the look that suits me

All I'm saying is that unlike certain crowds like the VW scene, Its uncommon to find super rare items on MINI's....and well thats because the market is still kinda un-diverse. 4x100 is less popular and thus harder to find rare wheels for, the bodykits are all VERY aggresive and are often too much for people's tastes, and chrome interior additions can only get you so far. I would point to people like MSFITOY who have gone above and beyond in their tuning/styling by doing things that are totally custom. No where will you see the toggle setup he has, and very few people repeat the amount of small details that he has added to make his car unique. People are constanly flaunting the "You should make your mini different", but do so by doing things already done by everyone else. Think of all the posted MINI's and only a few come to mind that really stand out.

What me (and the other guy probably) were saying is that you see a lot of SSR comps and superlegras (sp?). Not that there is anything WRONG about that(they are both spectacular wheels that look great).....its just nice to see something new and different every now and then....you know, to keep things spicy.

This is just my opinion and is barely worth 2 cents.....so read it, but dont take it too seriously. As long as we all love our cars.

temperature is rising here

although people have the right to speak up for what they believe, i strongly suggest not to post unnecessary posts, otherwise there will be heat...

i hope Vento and rallymini shows us something different, something we are missing, not easy bolt-ons, WHATEVER

That sums up what I was saying right there. I think you might have taken it a little too much to heart. Hell I haven't been here very long, thats apparent. But honestly if you scroll threw those 50+ pages of wheels you will see a lot of the same styles. A lot of multi-spokes and such, not that it's bad at all. Just a mere observation I made. Next time don't be so quick to jump to the conclusion that I'm trying to make enemies.

3 weeks? I'm on my second MCS, first purchased in May of 03, and I still haven't made up my mind on wheels yet. At this rate, I should have a set by the time I have a 2017 model MINI.

Back to the reason I'm posting. Anyone know of Rota Style 5 wheels? Price, weight or even a dealer would do. I'm looking to stay with 16"s and these, unlike a lot of wheels I look at, come in 16"s. I like the SSR Comps but they don't fit the budget. Here is a shot of the Rota Style 5.

The temp really isnt rising THAT much. I wasn't insulting anyone (especially not EVERYONE as you make it sound). I was just stating that i would like to see people strive outwards and upwards to advance this already wonderful community. It can't hurt.

By bolt-on i didnt mean that all things bolt-on are bad. I just meant that people should look to add things that aren't always listed in the catalogs. Again i will use the example of MSFITOY (since everone knows him). He went and found a tiburon gear shift boot and fit it to his MINI. That look was only replicated by a few people. There is just something incredibly exciting about looking at little things and thinking "wow, thats a nice addition, its cool that he though of that"

I dont want to toot my own horn....but since you guys request i back myself up i will just mention things as examples. Like i stated, i have custom upholstered my car with plaid (a personal taste that i enjoy), switched out for an 05 grill-surround (seems like a meaning-less mod to some, but its the little details that count), custom old-school Cooper emblems in the interior. Custom 'vintage' horn, custom toggles, LED ligthing accents throughout the interior (like the BMW mood lighting), white neon accents used as puddle lights... And thats not listing all of them. See what i mean though? They dont have to be huge difficult mods.....just little details that arent always done by others that suit what YOU like.

I really wasn't putting anyone down, and certainly wasn't putting myself up (as i feel my car still isnt to the level of the heavyweights on here).

Again...just 2 cents

I don't think anything that was posted was unnecessary.

RallyMini,

I got your point, which makes sense to me, the heat caused by the way you expressed yourself at the initial post, but I still think that "you needed some attention"

And you got it, congradulations

back to topic

Ok to keep things on topic, what do you think about some ronal turbos. I think I might throw 'em on this weekend to see what they look like. There currently on my '81 rocco.

Or my old RH's that I had on my Mk3 Jetta, 17x8's (too bad there 5 lug)
