Looked into powdercoating but there wasn't a whole lot of options locally so I went the sand 'em and paint 'em route. Spent a night giving them a few layers of flat primer then flat acrylic paint out of a rattle can, had the tires mounted and they only need a few minor touch ups as a result, total cost on the mod makes the little extra effort more than worth the results I got from it.

i painted my legacy wheels too over the weekend.
turned out pretty nice. i still need to wetsand them (2000grit) and
see if i want to do another coat of clear or not this weekend, but im
very glad i did it to remove the curbage by the wifey.
spot bondo'ed and all.

Truck is coming to deliver my 06 cabrio JCW (white) with black 18 inch JCW wheels and runflats. Will get rid of the runflats and am considering 15 inch OZ's new 5 star design HT Chrono black for comfort and lighter weight as recommended by Alex. Will this JCW look dorky or toylike with these in 15's? Your chic design thoughts are welcome. Will post pics of car with final wheel decision.

Well, you've been a NAM'er for over TWO years. . . I'll bet you've seen some MINIs with 15s you've liked. Plus, when you're dealing with all black wheels the sizes are better concealed- it's tough to even determine what size you're looking at.
Personally, I think 16" is the best comprimise and the best to match the overall dimensions of the MINI.
Also, if you're getting a JCW, you may have to go 16" or bigger to clear the brakes anyway.
Or just drop the run-bricks and get some comfy non-RFs.

I just haven't bothered to pay enough attention to cars with 15 inchers, but I thought that is what comes on the non-s MINI. The non-S seems a little more toylike in appearance with stock 15 inch wheels. Just an aesthetic point of view. But as Bertrand Russel (not a NAM member) once said something like "Everything is a matter of taste" or something like that.

Oops. The black OZ's Cronos only come in 15 and 17 inches

Yes, just like other mammals, MINIs can be toy-like OR totally awesome.
Here are some totally awesome examples-
Dave's 15x7 BBS RGFs:

Caster's 15x8 BBS RSs:

Aristotle actually once spouted this little gem: "A MINIs agressiveness lies not in the wheels, but in the stance."
He was a smart man, you should listen to him.

Here is a pic of my old 15s. If you get the right tire size, i think they can look just as sporty as any other wheel on a MINI

I sure like rolling on my 16 inch rims. I also run 18's but after rolling on the 16's, they're hard to beat. That size seems to address all of your concerns, comfort, performance and looks. I had originally bought these wheel and tires just for auto x and weekend thrills but I have a hard time putting the 18's back on. for me, 15's are just too small for the look of the car although performance wise, they're hard to beat. Just my two cents ! Here's a couple of picture with 16's Rota slipstreams and 205/50/16 tires.

Though the thread is about wheels. . .
Paulie Walnuts- Your car is one in the handful that has near perfect proportions including color combo. And I usually don't dig black/polish wheels or black tops, either.

Thanks for the complement on Boo Sandtoast500. It's funny, People have adopted "Paulie Walnuts" as one of my new nic names. I think I have about 16 nick names so far in this life lol.
