Tires -- what to do?
Ok, my factory Goodyear Rocks are about ready to be changed (Hallelujah!) and I'm a bit torn as to what to do. I want a decent replacement that is economical and it MUST be an all-season (snow). I only want to go to the steel wheel snowtire option if absolutely necessary.
I'm looking at using the Falken Ziex ZE-512 for the All-season use. They're about $92 a tire compared to $150+ for the Runflats.
I want to get the wheel/tire package from Mini-motorsport (Monza 16x6.5" wheels with 4 215/45-16 Falken Azenis)
My questions are: Will the Ziex work ok in the snow? Anyone have experience with them? Have a better recommendation?
I autocross about 6-8 times a summer but want to use the Azenis for "everyday" summer driving too. I probably drive 12,000 miles per year but will use the Ziex in the Winter so can I get 2 years out of the Azenis?
Good plan? Bad plan?

I'm watching as I have much the same plan. I live in D.C. and will be keeping the stock five spoke rims for winter. I'm torn between getting a set of snow tires or set of all seasons. Last year was NOT a normal winter. Normally we get mostly cold rain that turns to ice then a dusting of snow covers the mess. The winter driving season lasts about 3 months.
Reading the other tire therads for the summer tires I'll be going with a set of S-03 but that will be next year and could change. The winter tires will be going on the car in Nov or Dec this year.
