07 MCS wheel Decision - help

Hello all,

I am going to be getting my MCSa DS/w in a couple of weeks, it is at the VDC in Oxnard or at least dispatched from the ship.

I have been contemplating a 2nd set of wheels. The MCS will have 17 inch web spokes with run-flats as delivered. Here is what I am wondering about. A second set of wheels for the occasional track day and usage for my winter wheels with some better than average M&S. I pretty much know the tires I'm thinking about for the applications. but I'm open to suggestions on tires.

Here are three wheels I like:

Dan V has the nice looking Rota D2, look nice, perhaps a little aggresive for a (senior driver).

Konig has two nice looking wheels which come in a MINI fitment.

Konig fullcount in 16x7 or 17x7.

Konig SLR in 17x7

and the

Sportmax002s in 17x7.

Thoughts on these 4, I have included images below, wheel type left to right are the Rota, Konig FC, Konig SLR and the Sportmax002s.

Thanks for any input, a pm wil do or in the thread is fine. I am leaning towards the Konig FC but really like the Rota D2. :impatient

Go with a 17" wheel, or 18" if your feeling aggresive. Normally, I like 15 or 16" wheels on MINIs, but the large scale features and proportions of the 2007 MINIs demand a larger diameter wheel with a thicker look to it.

I'd go for the Rota D2 in 17x8, et35, $700 a set shipped from www.18racing.com (it's even hubcentric 56.1) http://www.18racing.com/wheel_d2.html

And, there's many different colors so go with something bold. Like gold/polish or bronze/polish. . . Or white/polish to go with your top! Just get some flavor, you know? Black with a polished lip makes me roll my eyes everytime . . .

p-l-a-y-e-d o-u-t.

Good luck and hope to see them at MITM2!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're looking for track wheels, look no bigger than 16's unless a BBK is forthcoming. There are a few 15" wheels that will allegedly clear R56 MCS brakes as well, but IMO most 17's will be too heavy and expensive for a track setup.

I would agree, IF this is going to be a track dedicated set. Otherwise get what you like and what looks good. You'll be much happier. Yes, you can always get 15s instead of 17s or pay a few hundred more a wheel to lose a couple pounds, but come on. . . are you looking to get some sweet wheels for your awesome MINI or are you looking to shave a 1/10 of a second off your autocross time? If the latter, then none of the above wheels are what you should go with.

2 cents.

Thanks for the replies, the wheels will not be a dedicated track set, but will be used as primary when I put some M&S tires on for the winter season.

I am thinking about the Rota wheels as my first choice, it will all depend on how I decide to use them, they do set off the MCS well. I agree about the gloss black, I like the white wheel look, I would have to see a some D2s on a car with DS/w.
