BRPT things to do
Greetings fellow Mini Club from WV Country Roads Minis.
We have a couple of us coming to the tour this year. But can you tell me the schedule of things we might do and see while on the tour? We joined up with the "slow" group since this is our first tour ever! Are there planned stops along the way etc?
Really excited to join you all and looking forward to the drive.
Thanks,
Dan aka Twiggy53

Dan,
We are working on nailing down an itinerary document, but here is a somewhat general description.
Thursday night - every will drive in to Cherokee. We'll have a group dinner at a restaurant (Paula Deen's Kitchen at the Harrah's casino this year). After eating, we'll hand out registration packages and spend some time talking some logistics.
Friday - driver's meeting about 7:30 or so. Drive up to the southern terminus and get a group photo. We'll then hit the BRP and the groups will pretty much stay together for the first couple stops at the Waterrock **** visitors' center and then the highest point on the BRP. Bear group will then continue to the Devil's Courthouse. I'm not sure whether the group will stay there long enough to climb to the top. Next will be a stop at Looking Glass Falls and the Cradle of Forestry museum. Stop for lunch in Asheville. Stop at the Folk Art Center. Groups will be reconverging there to motor to the top of Mt. Mitchell. Bear group heads to the hotel in Marion from there. Dinner will be on your own in Marion.
Saturday - start with a driver's meeting. First stop will be Linville Falls. Again, not sure whether Bear group is hiking out to the falls. Next major stop after that will be the Moses Cone memorial. Lunch in Sparta at a little restaurant called Brown's. After lunch, motor up to the Folk Music center then on to Mabry Mill. End the day in Roanoke. We'll have dinner as a group and afterward do some raffles and giveaway some door prizes.
Sunday - Up early again, driver's meeting, then motor up the BRP with stops at Peaks of Otter and the James River VC. Should end at the northern terminus around noon. From there, participants will depart to their next destination. Pretty sure on Sunday the Bear and Wolf groups will be traveling together.
Bear group will probably be stopping frequently at overlooks for pics and enjoying the scenery.
You'll want to be on the lookout for wildlife during the run. We've seen all sorts of critters during past drives. Probably most impressive are the elk if we are lucky enough to spot one.
Be sure to bring some clothes suitable for all temps. We've experienced blazing hot high 90's all the way down to 50's (which feels cold, especially when a raging thunderstorm is beating on your MINI).

A zillion thanks
Certainly many thanks are in order to you for all the cool info. This gives our little WV group something to be excited about!
We can hardly believe that we are just two weeks away.
Thank you again for your time and effort. I will pass this along to the other couple coming with us!
