The SRP plates are perfectly flat, except for the channels cut out to match the raised channels in the strut tower.

Don't hold back on the order... they're easy to install and remove in case one side doesn't fit.

How does that work? Do they cut out the tower and weld in a new one? Or do you mean replacing the bushing underneath?

thanks for the info. were your inner most tower bolts pointing slight
towards the center of the car?

I don't think they were. The plate on the passenger side (I think) did not fit as flush as on the drivers side. I took several photos before the install with a straight edge... I'll post a couple tonight.

I believe they cut out and weld a new one, though I haven't seen it done. I don't seen any other possiblity. There is a part number for the whole wheelhouse, but that looks like a lot of work to replace if only the top of the tower is bad.

To be even more extreme, I measured the distance from the outer rear stud to front stud; and inner rear stud to front stud on both towers, they are all the same at 14.9mm. Have anyone done this?

Also, I think the reason why the inner studs look pointing towards center is because the angle of the towers are slightly slanted towards the center.

i did the measurements like that too. measured it in a triangle.
all measurements were within 0.5mm that i could see on my tape measurer
left to right.

so yours is pointing slightly inward on the center tower studs too, huh?
I should go look at a brand new strut mount and see how that looks.

Those three strut studs are straight up holding a new guide in your hand. A slight mushroom, flowers the studs away from center. After damage occurs when trying to install the M7 plate, it will rock around tower, and or studs wont like to fit through plate. It makes you sweat so dont get mad. Get a new guide, flatten tower, and alls well.
I remember when I got schoomed. But did'nt notice the damage till 2,000 miles later after learning about it here on NAM. It drove just fine. No pull and no odd tire wear. Good luck!

Here you go Ken.

I remember measuring all three studs on both towers before I installed the SRP. They all measured the same distance.

However, I thought I only had one that was not 100% flat, but the pictures show that both towers had a slight curve. Maybe it's this way from the factory?? I'm assuming that if I had mushrooming, then the bolts would be off in addition to a curved strut tower surface.

In any case, the SRP plates fit just fine. I'm glad I have them

paul- thanks very much for the pict!

that definitely looks very similar to wat mine looks like.
i too think there was always a slight roundness to the
towers from the beginning.

To be honest, it is very difficult to tell. Like I said, since the towers are slanted slightly towards the center (think of it as negative camber), then there are other creases and the center opening on the tower, they all could deceive our eyes. On top of that, imagination can play a part, especially if one keeps on thinking the towers are already mushroom.

If you measure all the screws distances and they are pretty much identical, I would not worry too much, unless both towers shroom identically. That's different story.

That's exactly what I see on mine, not a perfect plain, but a slight curve.

Towers are slanted to form both camber and SAI - FYI

When mine mushroomed, there was no question.
