The Cat, the Stalker, and quite a few others, are attempts at the original Lotus Super 7's. The Caterham is said to be more like the original, and has the rights so to say. It was, and I beleive still is, the most refined of the bunch. With that, not cheap. Expect around $70k for a new one with all the best of options...
I actually have a photo of one in my gallery, along with a Stalker. I'm a member of the California Caterham forum that welcomes all 7 replicas actually. The Atom (also in my gallery) will be at least 50k, and up to 70 with desirable options. Making it legal for public roads and getting insurance have been difficult apparently, at least in CA. It is off my radar, for now at least...
The Stalker tops my list for my Spring/Summer RWD convertible. Check-out GRM's May issue "Track Attack."
Lotus Exige - 93.05 seconds, about $51k
Dodge Viper Comp Coupe - 77.49 seconds, about $156k
Brunton SuperStalker - 79.44 seconds, about $29k
Panoz GTS - 79.33 seconds, about $66k
Porsche 996 GT3 Cup - 80.31 seconds, about $140k
Spec Racer Ford - 88.16 seconds, about $33k
Noble M400 - 81.50 seconds, about $88k
=========
These were driven by the Nonamaker brothers, who race GrandAm GT class, in that Porsche listed above.
Of note, the SuperStalker suspension was set-up for an auto-x event, certainly not ideal for this testing. With the exception of the Exige and Noble, the others are not street cars, or tested as such...
A guy north of me about an hour built one, and I hope to see it soon. Really thinking about it...

Anybody build one with an indepedent rear?
Not that I'm aware of obe... I was against it orignally because of the live axle, but the results have been nothing short of impressive. Parts are easy and cheap to source, so builiding and maitenance are no biggie...
Two British icons - the Mini/MINI and Lotus Super 7!
If VW builds the GX3, I will go for that instead though. It would only be 17k, require no building, and apparently will pull 1.25g's. It also gets 46 mpg, and would get to use the commuter lane. I can only call 1 800 DRIVE VW so many times

Hope they make it. Current gas prices might help.
