going with just new front shocks?

Due to the very rough roads in the immediate area surrounding my house, I believe I've blown one if not both of my front shocks. I plan to get lowerings springs in the very near future. I want to upgrade all the shocks, but being the college student I am, I cannot afford to replace the rear shocks. Is it going to cause any side effects on the handling if I just replace the front for now?

take pics of some bad potholes and write a letter to the city with the pictures saying stuff that because of the roads in your area your suspension has blown out and will need to be replaced. But in legal jargon..:P ..you might be able to get them to pay for your stuff..

hmm..didnt think of that. most of it is train tracks that are terrible no matter what the speed...there's no way to get away from my house without going over railroad tracks.

..... ummmmm, if your really lucky they just might settle with you in 10 years.

If you are going with lowering springs then you may only get 10-15k out of your 'new' front struts. I'd think about this a bit.

If you are thinking Koni yellows & soon lowering springs, you should check into the Koni lowering kit. The kit includes 4 springs that lower the car 1" and shocks for front & back all in one box. I think the price would be cheaper than buying idividually. Check out their website for info. They are available several places including e-bay, so you can shop for a good price.

While it's not ideal, I wouldn't expect it to cause any kind of dramatic handling problems.

If your roads are really that bad, I have to wonder if yellows are really the way to go though... Compression damping on those shocks is pretty high. It's going to lead to an even rougher ride. Then again, you're probably expecting that.

^ thats what I was looking for, thanks. I'm not going to get koni springs because I don't want a 1 inch drop. I've got the springs picked out. and I dont have the money for all the shocks right now. So, if it won't cause any undo harm, other than maybe some extra pinch in my wallet later on when I buy the other two and have to get those put on, plus paying a little more for buying individually, thats okay with me.

I think you should be fine.....The front struts are the ones that do the most work because of all the weight up there. The back shocks don't wear out as fast.

If the roads are so crappy, why would you want to lower your car?
