Remove nuts JCW stray brace
Hi
Tomorrow I need to remove the JCW strut brace because I have to fit new shocks. The JCW strut brace is tighten to the body with locking nuts (they have a blue plastic lock sleeve on them).
I read I cant use the nuts again if I loosing it? Is this true?
Can I still use the nut if I add something like loctite?

according to JOHN COOPER WORKS the part number for the nuts is:51717895241_____i received this number from john cooper, parts manager for JCW i had asked him for info because of some problems the folks on mini2 have reported.he said they have not received any complaints about the nuts splitting apart and he would keep me supplied with any info.....
Thanx for the replys
I dont think my dealer have it in stock. Can I use the old one till my new nuts arrive?

thestrange thing about them is they have a sleeve on them that is nit threaded it self taps itself as you wrench them on.anyway that was the way mine and another that i did were.i have e-mailed JCW and asked them if that is correct and i havenot received an reply from them yet. i'm not sure if that iscorrect butthat was the way they went on. the instructions are very clear about the install but it is a very straight forward install.....

Whats the torque setting of the nuts? The brace itself is 34Nm?
You are correct sir.Nylocks are commonly used in industrial high vibration environments, one use only because you cut a thread in when you tighten down locking it on.If you reuse you will pull the raised material cut on the firstuse out and it will loose" the locking feature".
Bring an old one and "they" should be able to match up the correct size.Otherwise you would have to have a bunch of really expensive gauges, or at the very least a metric thread pitch gauge set.

I really wouldn't use nylocks over again. You could but they may come loose. Why don't you leave the bar off until new ones come in,and use the old nuts that were on the car before bar install.
