Qs reguarding Rear Swaybar?

I am a rookie when it come to rear swaybar, I wish someone specialize in this area could help me a little.

I am planning on putting a rear swaybar on my 05 MCS in order to achieve better cornern handling. However, I dont no what parts i have to buy besides a rear swaybar and a set of droplink in order to achieve my goal as well as avoiding the excessive tire wear.

By the way, its all 4 normal street driving, I am not a track or autocrosse guy. just trying to find the best handling on the street with a little excessive speed. Thx

Nothing else. You also don't need the droplinks, just the bar.

For normal street driving save your money. Trust that MINI knew what it was doing when it built your car

thx 4 the reply, but from what i heard it that the stock droplink is easy to get bend with aftermarket rear swaybar?

i already have an Hsports spring and is it true if i replace the rear swaybar, i will have excessive tire wear? or there are some specific adjustment i have to do on the rear swaybar and the Hsports spring.?
if i am wrong, please correct me on that???

You shouldn't need anything other than the swaybar, especially for the street. End links are really only needed if you plan on tracking the car. I have an H-Sport comp bar and absolutely love it. I keep it on the softest setting as my driving so far is 100% street and with other family members also driving the car. I find that on this setting, understeer is minimized but you still have that saftey margin if you need to hit the brakes while going through a corner. I chose the H-Sport from recommendations by other NAMers and the fact that it has a grease nipple to easily re-grease the bushings. So far, I haven't had to use it.

If you plan on putting it in yourself, it took me and a couple friends a few hours. Randy's how-to really helps. You definitely need a 2nd person to help with prying the subframe down to get the bar out. All in all, it's a great mod and really helps the car turn turn in.

Do a search and read the threads here but I think the consensus is that the stock droplinks are strong enough. Some ppl may not say so. Don't believe anything a vendor selling products says because they need to make money selling to you. Ask the track guys. But remember, you said street driving, not track.

I don't thinkt the sway bar changes the rear camber but the spring certainly did. If the drop is too low you might get a 4 wheel alignment and see how bad it is. If its negligible, the advice given me is to just rotate the tires every 5K miles (which you should do anyway).

thx for the info guys. I really appreciate it.

so what u guys r telling me here is that, for street driving, replacing the rear swaybar only would be good enough to achieve the better corner handling without too much tire wear, and the droplink is totally unnecessary since the stock one is already pretty strong. Is my understanding correct???

Sounds like you understand what is said so far. You can throw all the money you want at the car, but for street driving you don't need too much. Now if you go motoring, you may want to upgrade the componets after awhile. But I would wait for a while till you find a need to replace too much. If you have the money to spend you can get all the up grades and have a car to brag about, and list the upgrade that is on you. Just make sure that it is what you want and not what your buddy or some salesman wants you to have.

I run relatively radical alignment and have 3 years of autocrossing without any droplink troubles. I agree that the rear swaybar is fun, but I'll suggest that good (non-runflat) tires make more of a difference to street performance than the swaybar. If you have the $ to do both, so much the better.
