Will 05 springs and shocks work in a 04???

Hi,

I have a friend who has a 2005 MCS who does not like the ride - it is too soft.

My 2004 MCS feels so much stiffer it's not even funny.

I drove it car and could feel the swaying all over the place.

I do have a 19MM RDR rear sway bar but even over bumps his car was way smoother.

I have another friend with a 2004 Cooper with 16" wheels and aftermarket tires (non-runflats) and compared to the 2005 MCS with R99's and stock runflats the 2005 MCS is WAY smoother!

My question is the following:

If I took the springs/shocks/struts out of the 2004 Cooper (SS+) would I be able to stick them right into the 2005 MCS (SS+) and vice versa?

They didn't change the design of the struts in the front or the rear did they?

This would be benefical to both of my friends. The one with the Cooper has a family and wants the ride to soften up and the 2005 MCS friend wants a stiffer ride.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I was asking about this for Coopers a few weeks ago. I just bought an '05 and I love it EXCEPT that it rides like a Buick compared to my '03. I haven't yet decided if I hate it quite enough to spend hundreds of dollars to correct it, but people here were telling me that it was definitely possible to do.
