Suspension Camber plate recommendations.
Camber plate recommendations.
I'm looking to get a set of front camber plates and I am torn between Helix RDR vs Hsport. Can anyone with these plates give me their own opinions. My cars a daily driver currently building it up for the occasional weekend autocross but not going to be a dedicated track car. Car has been lowered on promini/H&R springs Koni shocks are going on soon. Just ordered a set of Hsport rear camber links. Any help would be great. Thanks.
I have the H-Sports and like them, with one exception. They have the tendency to hold water after rain. In a little over a year the bearing cassetes were completely rusted and the plates needed to be replaced. They were replaced by H-Sport for free. Hoagie at Euro Styles East drilled drain holes to ensure it doesn't happen again. If you get the H-Sports you might think about doing the same.
I believe the RDR plates raise the ride height a little. I have Webb plates, with H&R and Konis, and the ride height was raised very noticably. While some may not find this an issue with their particular set up, with H&R springs, it creates an awkward stance, and I would imagine affect the handling in a negative way. You might check on RDR's effect on ride height.

I like the RDR plates except for the mounting bolts. My mounting bolts are not plated, nor are they stainless, and they're rusting. I don't know if they're the supplied bolts because I (short-sightedly) had the local MINI dealer install the plates and they may have used any bolt that would fit. They also installed the plates backwards the first time. Hard to believe, I know, but for some reason the highly trained specialist at the dealership thought that the reason for the camber plates was so that I could dial in all the positive camber I wanted. Like an old J2 Allard with swing arm front suspension.
So, the plates are fine, but they're clearly not idiot-proof.
Thanks guys I went ahead and ordered the RDR plates. I liked them more because they were marked so I could easily change the camber settings before I went to the track and not have to worry about the caster settings.
