Buying used springs ... a good idea?

I am able to secure a set of used Eibach springs for my MINI and was wondering if there was anything I should be aware of? I know the history of the car and its owner, so have no problems on that front. But the car has done a few miles and quite a lot of track days. Is a set of springs always a set of springs, or over time do they wear like most other car parts. For the sake of a couple of hundred bucks should I just buy a new set and have peace of mind, or should I snap myself up a bargain ... if it really is a bargain.

Properly designed and built springs should never sag. Eibach is a reputable spring manufacturer so I would have no qualms about buying a used set of Eibach springs.
