Lowering Springs Max Load?

I've been told that if you lower your car you can't/it's not a good idea to carry 4 people? Is this true? Thanks for your help everybody!

Typically I would not put 4 adults on a car that ive lowered with just
lowering springs because the struts do not seem to have enough capacity
to slow down the compression....tends to bottom out as if Im riding on
bump stops over each bump that the car hits.

But really depends on the total gross weight...i guess.
