For those of you with spring noises

I happened to have some time today and was reading a number of posts regarding dampers and springs. A number of us have complained about spring noises. I'll offer a fix for spring slap that has worked for me every time - and I apologize if this has been posted, but I could not find a related subject.

Simply go to Radio Shack or some other electronic store and purchase coiled wire wrap. This wire wrap is meant to house all those loose wires behind your TV chest or Amoire. It turns out to work quite well as a wrap for springs too. This product is a bit tedious to install, but well worth the effort, especially with progressive rate springs. High density plastic, used for irrigation piping among other things, also works well in spring perches. If you obtain this product in 1/16" or 3/32" thickness, you'll have little if any problems re-adjusting ride hieght. This plastic is also black. This, for those of you with Aluminum spring perches.

Just a random response. Hope the above helps some of you.

You will want to install this wrap on every other spring where the coils are
close together. The coils hit each other and make the chattering noise
over bumps. (sounds like metal against metal).

Actually, just wrap the entire coil, this will not affect how they work. Wrapping every other coil leaves room for the wrap to move a bit - depending upon the spring.

You just need to wrap it snug (pull while you wrap) and it
won't move. You can even e-tape it if you're worried.
I don't like to add extra wrap between the springs where it will
affect travel and spring rate, but that's just me.
