Disconnecting DDC, does it throw up any error codes?

Hi all I am fitting BC coilovers in a couple of weeks and wondered if disconnecting the DDC plugs on the top mounts would throw up any errors on the dash? I have gone for the BC coilovers with DDC option but there are no details about what you receive.

Thanks

James

Hi, I've been on coilovers now for over a month without any warnings on the dash and the sensors were disconnect a month before that with no issues. Assume you are talking about something popping up on the dash rather than diagnostic computers at Mini etc? Spoken to a few people now that have done the same as me and had zero issues.

Heres some more info I posted RE my experience: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-with-ddc.html

A) Did you do the install yourself and B) is your car a manual.

Only reason I ask is because with an abs code, you can’t drive an automatic. It messes with the transmission and so I have to let the car sit currently until I can figure this out. I do know I can buy the delete kit but I was hoping I didn’t have to but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

A) Install was done by a friend, no coding etc done, literally as I explained DDC disconnected and coilovers bolted in place.

B) Correct my car is a manual, however I do know of a JCW auto in the UK that followed the same method I did and had no issues, jonwilson_JCW on instagram

I had Koni Special Active Shocks & Struts installed on my 2019 MCS with DDC. The Indy BMW/Mini shop that installed the Koni's has a BMW/Mini diagnostic computer so they were able to read the fault codes that occurred from this installation.
Here are the fault codes
482E85 EDC Valve coil, rear left, open circuit
482E89 EDC Valve coil, rear right, open circuit
482E8D EDC Valve coil, front left, open circuit
482E91 EDC Valve coil, front right, open circuit
Although the fault codes are there they don't seem to effect the handling performance. So far I have driven my MCS over 700 miles, mostly on mountain roads and I have had no warning light on my instrument cluster. Also the ride quality is much improve and I think my MCS handles better than with DDC shocks & struts although I had the stiff setting turned off in Sport Mode because the ride quality was just too harsh.

Thanks for the info, most people are saying they did not get a code when disconnected. Did the codes come up on the dash or hidden.

I’ve still had zero warnings on the dash with everything disconnected

The Codes come up on the BMW/Mini diagnostic computer but not on the dash. Without using the BMW/Mini diagnostic computer or a code reader you would not know that you have a fault code present on your Mini.
