koni shock install

Anyone install koni shocks? The koni shocks has a thicker shaft on the front shocks and the washer and top spring hat has to be drilled to accomodate the thicker shaft. What size drill do you use?

Also, any issues w/ the rear shocks?

How's the ride compared to stock?

thanks.

I thought I read that it was only on the rear shocks. I think I'll just
take a large round file and just file the mount to size.

Run a quick search and you should be able to find the threads.

Here's a link for Koni how-to:

Yes, it is the rear shock you have to modify the top mount and washer by drilling a larger hole. Just measure the OD of the rear shock shaft and add 1/16" for the drill size. No drilling required for the front.

Consider changing front and rear coil springs since you'll have them off anyway.

I have the yellow Koni shocks and H&R springs on my mcs and really like them.

thanks for the info. My car has less than 5000 miles and I got a set of Hsport spring and before I install them w/ the comp. rear bar, I was thinking of going ahead and replacing the shock since I have the car apart. Also, I will be installing the RDR camber plates w/ the adj control arms. I going to go ahead and get the car aligned after the install.

Is the 2004 shock MCS good enough??? Don't want to have to go back and replace the shocks again. The expense and time to have to do it again and another alignment makes installing the koni's attractive.

How's the koni's ride since the car will be driven on the street and maybe see the track only a few times in the year.

The H-Sports with stock struts (my current setup) isn't bad...but at the limit, when you sweep through a fast corner the car is not settling as with aftermarket struts especially if you go over a slight hump or dip. I think
for the most part for street the stock struts do fine, but I am planning to
change them out to Koni's down the road as the strut wears out.

Ive been running full coilover kits on my other hobby cars in the past and
there is a night/day difference to just doing springs and doing springs AND
struts... if I had extra cash, I would do the Koni's today.

The Konis are pretty stiff compared to stock but improve the ride substantially. Stock shocks are pretty bad, get the Konis.
