Suspension H-sport vs M7 springs?
Octaneguy, right now with the m7 springs, the plastic piece under the front of the MINI is about 3 inches off the ground. I think if you left the rear end stock, the front would be too low.
So far man I've taken my MCS on a couple of drives with myself (190lbs), son (100lbs in back and still growing
) and the wifey (120lbs) on unfamiliar roads that ended up being pretty uneven and NO bottoming out or scraping whatsoever in case that helps.

Richard,
Remember these springs are considerably stiffer than your stock springs once you get past the first inch or so of travel. They are progressive rate springs. If anything I would think your load carrying capacity would be increased.

Hi Bill and SFJames2,
Good points. Hmmmmm ok. I think all that's left for me to do is take a ride with someone who's got them. RedPillDog is local to me, so I might try that route. LOL
Thanks!

And on topic, what do M-7 springs cost for those that have them.

I installed the M7s over the weekend along with an Hsport 22mm bar. The ride is as advertised. The harsness of the stock setup is reduced substantially (still have my runflats). It did drop the car more than I would like and I do get some scraping around town. Too soft intially? Mind you Rhode Island has probably the worst maintained roads in the U.S. The springs came without replacement bumpstops or any written instructions/suggestions. I called M7 and was told to to cut the factory bumpstops in half. The spring install was about four hours without the anticipated driver side wrestling match (my car is a May '04 build). I used two (500# working load) rachet straps from Walmart at $8.95 each as spring compressors. My only concern is that I could not not get the top nut on the front strut(s) any tighter beyond what I could obtain holding the allen wrench. Can I go ahead and just crank on the top nut even with strut shaft spinning? And if so, is there a specific torque setting?
Cheers,
Cheers,
I thought mine looked a little lower in the rear, but it's not. I love the way it sits, it's perfect. Even with the wife and son in the car. The way it looks after a Costco run though is different.
FYI the bottom deflector is a $ 15.00 RETAIL replacment item . I still have the original one on my car ( 38k + miles ) and I am bit lower than the M7 spring equipped cars as I am on coil overs.

Sorry folks...reviving an old thread vs. posting the same question.
So which spring is better for daily driving H-Sport or M7?
I spoke to Peter at M7 the other day. He said, "in all fairness, both springs are GREAT!!
However, I personally feel H-Sport is built more for autocross (stiffer ride), and M7 is designed more for daily driving. M7 springs sit much lower, but believe me the ride is so smooth - minus the runflat tires of course. You really get a MUCH BETTER ride with M7 vs. H-Sport and definitely better than OEM suspension. Now if you plan to buy aftermarket wheels, whether you go with H-Sport or M7 , try to avoid 18" wheels. The best wheel size tested on M7 as well as other performance springs are 16" & 17". The 18" wheels IMO are more for show than performance."
So do you guys agree or disagree?

I have a set of H-sports and M7 springs. I started with a set of H-sports for a year and a half and really liked them a lot. A few months ago I got a chance to buy a set of used M7 springs (which I always wanted to try) so on they went. To me, both springs seem to feel very much alike in there ride comfort on the street but there control in hard cornering is a bit different. The M7's have a little more compresion when pushed hard in the corner which feels a little unsettled to me. The H-sports seemed to be more controlled when pushed hard although the M7's work well. I like the extra drop of the M7's and that's why I wanted to try them. I might switch back to the H-sports but when my Wife let's me (LOL) I'm going to get a set of coil overs which will give me both the performance and look that I want. Both get a thumbs up from me. As for wheels, I have both a set of 18's and now a set of 16's. The 16's are fantastic. They really changed the performance and feel of the car. I like the look 18's but when I head to the twisty's, the 16's go on the car.

I will tell you straight up, you can't go wrong with the H-sports ! They are great springs for sure and that's why I'm holding on to my H-sport springs for now. I'm still undecided about the M-7's so I just might end up putting the H-sports back on some day. I don't have much of a problem with snow here in California so I can get away with being a bit lower. As I said in my previous post, I always wanted to try the M7's and so far, I'm happy with the switch.
Have you had any problems with rubbing with the M7s? I have a set in the garage ready to go on, but I am running 18" Ultralegeras and don't want any rubbing. And why don't they come with shorter bump stops anyway?
