Just got m7 springs installed and an H-Sport comp rear sway bar set on the middle setting and also m7's new sway bar end links on the rear. I have Yoko AVS ES 100's in 215-45-17 with stock S-lites and no rubbing issues yet.

The m7 springs are great - very compliant on small bumps and progressively stiffer on bigger bumps. I have ridden in MINI's with H&R springs and H Sport springs and the m7's are better than those for normal speed street bumps but also just as good at higher speeds.

The sway bar is amazing. No perceptible body roll and no tail happy tendency yet, but I only have about 100 miles on this combination.

Coming back from the install went up Angeles Crest and then up the little road to Mt. Wilson. LMAO all the way!!! Up and down. Next is a BBK and some lighter wheels.

The m7 springs are just making me happier and happier. Another fun weekend out on the ol backroads with the new suspension setup. I actually came up on a UUC sway bar the other day and just put it on last night so that made the day that much more exciting. We scouted out a couple of new roads, we found one that was pretty wavey and bumpy, but everything still turned out well. Did not bottom out or scrape anything, but that front lower piece. I was a little concerned about my exhaust being scraped or smashed being as how the road more than anything was very uneven, but all went well and I'm still amazed by how well the springs making the car feel.

badassmini and meanboy, whenever your ready guys give me a call. We had a hell of a time today!

sfjames, I am going to have to take you up on that offer soon. We were on 580 yesterday and the bumps were punishing and I need to soften up the ride while retaining the handling, and doing so without busting the bank.

Yes, I just got my MCS back from being stolen on the 25th, and the Steve's Clinic pulley/mod party was on the 31st and 1st, so it worked out perfectly.

And I am going on the SCMM run up to Monterey this week and then taking the next week off work to go up to Northern California to run Highway 36 and then work back down south through the Sierra passes.

It has been an amazing last two weeks, I feel really blessed about how it has all worked out - somebody up there is looking out for me!

But back on the topic, so far the m7 springs and H-Sport rear sway bar have transformed the MCS, just like the pulley did.

M7,

I may be wrong here, but I doubt that M7 has the equipment to produce the springs in house. Are you willing to divulge who is creating them for you? Curious as to the construction. What is the amount of sag that we can expect from these springs?

Also, does anyone have any comparison to the other spring sets out there. There seems to be a lot of happy people with these springs, but no one has really compared them to the other springs out there on the market. For example, there is a lot of discussion on the positive aspects on the progressive nature of these springs, but these are the first ones on the market that are progressive. So my real question is how they compare with other springs, not from a theoretical standpoint, but also from a real world experience with both spring sets.

No problem, but I don't work for m7, I am just a (so far) satisfied customer of a few of their parts. I am sure that they are being puchased from elsewhere, but as long as they stand behind them if there is a problem, I don't really care.

Sag is an unknown issue at this point since they are so new. I bought them on recommendations from a couple other people, and replaced my stock springs, so I can't comment on m7 vs other brands. I am sure that type of comparison will be available soon.

Actually, they aren't the first progressive springs on the market. H-sports are progressive also. As for comparison, Steve(Steve's Auto Clinic) has tested H&Rs, H-sports, and now the M7s. From his personal experience, he stated that the M7s would be the most comfortabe, while H&Rs would be the harshest.

sfjames, we might need a pulley or ecu upgrade as well because I could really feel the headwind slowing the car down on 580. Are those in your future?

yeah, I do want a pulley for sure now. Yesterday, Jcampos and I switched MINIs so I could see how a pullied car felt and he could see how the ride was in mine, the pulley felt pretty good. Not sure about the ECU, a little worried about messing with it. We have to hook up for a drive sometime, we found some new roads off of 84, a little bumpy, but still swingable .

i also am wanting to compare springs: alta, h-sport and m7's. steve (steve's auto clinic) is a big fan of h-sports and has them on his car. i haven't heard that the ride is rough with them just that the m7 are softer...but i haven't heard a direct comparison between the alta's and m7s either. i have heard that h-sport makes the springs for alta. i'm going to call them and verify this. i'm more interested in changing my springs since installing the h-sport comp rear bar. amazing difference in the handling

alta springs

just got off the phone with adam @ alta. their springs are wound by h&r in germany. they are progressive. softer than stock up to 45% compression and at that point they become stiffer. very smooth and comfortable ride with great handling. sounds like this is the market niche m7 is going for...
so there is the scoop, from alta...hope this helps...
the bottom line i think is to find cars with similar wheel and tires with different springs to test drive. this may take some time

A comparo would be good. Now that I have the m7's and like them a lot. I would like to see how they compare.

I think the m7's kicka-- and would like for someone with racing experience to try them and report. If I was downsouth, I'd ask the man himself to try Brutus out so I could watch, but then again maybe not .

Sorry actually I meant they aren't the first progressive springs. Bad typo.

Also, some manufacturers guarantee a minimum amount of sag in their springs, so I was wondering about M7's.

No problem...As far as sag, I'm not too sure. I think the first person to test the springs was Mini_Street_racer and that was about a month and a half ago. He might be able to fill you in on how much it has settled, if it has.

Sounds good. I have to experience a pulley car. How many miles do you have on your car now? I thought the ECU might be even easier to do then a pulley..like the dinan upgrade or the shark. But the two together probably work the best.

So you found some roads off of 84? I haven't even gone down 84 with the coop yet!

ah the Dinan, that might be the one I get if any. 84 is way cool in the Cooper, they repaved it some too. Three of us hooked up yesterday and drove up and down 84 3-4 times, managed to give my son a headache even. Insane, but hella fun. Are you going next week? To Monterey?

oh yeah, we have almost 43,000

Check out that Espilir site, they have a red cooper in there with their springs, looks very nice and I'd have to say that's the stance I have.

I took this picture at the Village Coffee Roaster of RedPillDog's MCS. She's got 16" Wheels and the M7 springs.

Has anyone considered adding M7 springs to just the front??? I've heard you can buy springs for Front and Rear, and just wondering what kind of effect (negative??) there would be if you lowered the front, but kept the OEM's on the rear? Part of my concern has to do with wanting to keep the ability to load my MINI with a couple hundred pounds of cargo if I need to.

Would that be just plain weird???
