My f56 has the factory cosmos 17x7 wheels. I'm looking to give the car a slightly wider look, and was thinking that wheel spacers were the way to go for right now.

As far as I can tell, I basically have two options: the 5mm range or 12mm range.

My questions are as follows:

1) With 5mm spacers, there is no hubcentric mounting collar on the spacers, because the spacer is thinner than the collar on the hub. Does the remaining 5mm or so of collar on the hub allow for the safe mounting of the wheel? And what length bolts do I need to buy?

2) If I go with 12mm spacers, the spacers have a collar that replaces the one on the hub, so the wheel can mount safely - no issues there. But will I have rubbing against the fenders with the stock wheel/tire setup? I'm not planning on lowering the car.

Thanks for your help! I'm not super savvy when it comes to these kind of mods.

I'm pretty sure you can do the 12mm without rubbing if you're keeping the original tires and not lowering it. Should give it a shot, I'd like to see the results as I'm sure some others would.

If your not lowering the car I think you can do up to 15mm without rubbing but it will depend on wheel and tire option.

Yes the 5mm spacer will have enough hub sticking out that it is perfectly safe to use.

We have our own 5mm and 15mm F56 spacers if your looking for a good quality spacer that doesn't break the bank.

Thanks, gents. I will buy and fit some at some point during the holidays, and share my findings with you.

Any chance you guys can get some 12mm ones made?

See my previous post for details of the spacers I fitted (12mm at front and 15mm at rear)

We're not planning on 12mm as 15mm will take car of most. That's what we have offered for years.

Anyone have thoughts on how much you would think of adding in spacer width for a slightly lowered (~1 inch) MCS if I wanted to get a little better cornering performance without risking tire rub?

Semper, I've been told 15mm max on the stock wheels, which sounds accurate given the amount of people running aftermarket 8" wide wheels.

I'm going with 12mm on all four wheels, just to play it safe. I think there's room in there for a 1" drop with stock wheels, but you'd probably be better off if your suspension is adjustable and you're willing to mess around with it.
